Ett Sista Dopp is the animated shortfilm I made for my bachelor examination at Stockholm university of the arts.
Its 4 minutes and 40 seconds long and shows the story of a young boy sneaking out at night to swim in the stormy waves.
I created everything myself when it comes to animation, backgrounds and other visual elements.
For the audio I hired two voice actors, a compositor, and a sounddesigner/mixer.
I wanted to create a 2D animation with a handcrafted look, though it is created 100% digitally.
I didn't shy away from using various digital techniques. The characters are animated frame by frame at 12fps, the ocean is created with blender and carefully shaded to look the way I want it to.
And everything is composited with Adobe After Effects, where I also animated the more subtle movement in clouds, trees and such using interpolation.
It was important for me to create a lot of detail and athmosphere in the short time I had, while not compromising the charater animation,
which is the most time consuming part.
